Custom software for businesses

We design web applications around how your team actually works, centralizing information in a solution that can evolve with the business.

What your business gains

It may be right for you if…

  • The process is important or differentiating and standard tools force operations to adapt too much.
  • Several teams share data, permissions, states or approvals.
  • You need system integrations and control over code, data and future evolution.

You may not need it if…

  • An existing product solves a standard process with reasonable configuration.
  • The process has no owner, stable criteria or sufficiently defined need to validate yet.

When custom software makes sense

A custom solution provides more value when a process matters to the business and standard tools force the team to rely on manual steps, workarounds or duplicated data.

When an existing product is the better choice

Not every problem needs custom development. If the process is standard, a commercial tool handles it well and adapting does not create significant friction, configuring an existing SaaS or ERP is usually more efficient. Our initial assessment can also rule out development that would not provide enough return.

From a functional prototype to a business tool

We start with the riskiest or most valuable part of the process and prepare a functional prototype in two weeks. It validates screens, workflows, data and success criteria with real users. If the approach fits, we turn it into an operational first version and plan the next phases.

Integrations and data migration

A custom application should not become another data silo. We identify which data belongs in the solution and what must synchronize with other systems. We can integrate APIs, databases, ERP, CRM, email services, documents, devices and import or export processes.

Ownership, permissions and security

We define ownership of code, infrastructure and data before development begins. The application can include roles, permissions, activity logs, backups and deployment to the agreed infrastructure. Specific measures depend on data sensitivity and operational risk.

Maintenance and evolution

Software remains active after launch. We document the solution, monitor critical areas and agree how incidents, dependency updates and new features will be managed. The architecture is prepared so later phases do not require rebuilding the product from scratch.

What determines cost and timeline

The budget depends on scope, data quality, integrations, user roles, security and availability requirements. We reduce uncertainty by dividing the project into phases with verifiable outcomes and validating the highest-value result first.

Frequently asked questions

When is custom software better than SaaS?

When the process is strategic, shared or difficult to fit into a standard tool. It may also make sense when SaaS fees, limitations, integrations or manual workarounds create increasing costs. If an existing tool solves the problem well, we will recommend configuring it instead of unnecessary development.

How much does a custom application cost?

There is no single price. It depends on scope, integrations, data, permissions, security and required availability. After the initial assessment, we propose a concrete first phase so you can evaluate cost, impact and risk before committing to the full project.

How long does it take to get a functional first version?

We prepare a functional prototype in two weeks to validate the approach. A complete operational version takes longer depending on scope, migration and integrations. The project is divided into phases so the team can review useful results during development.

Does the client own the source code and data?

Ownership and conditions are defined explicitly before work starts. Nodus Studio’s usual approach is for the client to retain control of its data, the agreed code and infrastructure, avoiding artificial vendor lock-in.

Can it integrate with our ERP, CRM or other tools?

Yes, provided the system offers an API, data access or another viable exchange mechanism. Before estimating an integration, we review documentation, limits, permissions and data quality.

What does ongoing maintenance include?

It can include monitoring, incident resolution, dependency updates, backups, support and functional evolution. The service level is agreed according to application criticality.

Can we start with one small process and expand later?

Yes, and this is usually the recommended approach. We select a workflow with clear value, validate real usage and prepare the architecture so additional processes, roles and integrations can be added progressively.

What happens when business needs change?

We use modules, structured data and short phases that allow priorities to be reviewed. Before each extension, we assess the impact on existing users, data and integrations.
